About Kintamani & Mount Batur
Kintamani sits on the rim of an enormous ancient caldera, looking straight across to the active cone of Mount Batur (1,717 m) and the crescent of Lake Batur below. The classic experience is a pre-dawn trek with a local guide, reaching the summit in time to watch the sun rise over Mount Agung and Mount Abang while breakfast is cooked on volcanic steam.
Not a hiker? Jeep tours drive across the black lava fields for the same sunrise, and the rim cafés serve coffee with a volcano view all day. Afterwards, soak in the natural hot springs by the lake or visit a coffee plantation on the way back to Ubud.
